The OFA will determine the budget hearing date, which must be at least eight (8) weeks prior to the end of the spring semester. The Annual Budget Committee shall consist of at least four (4) members of FAC, four (4) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to review club/organization budgets during the Annual budget process, and to draft an Annual Budget for submission to the General Assembly. The Annual Budget Committee shall submit the Annual Budget to Student Senate at least six (6) weeks prior to the end of spring semester. ^^ Back To Top Aramark Food Committee The Aramark Food Committee representative shall be elected by the general assembly and will meet with members of CRC and a Representative from Aramark. They will discuss thoughts, ideas, and concerns the student body has with the food service. ^^ Back To Top Board of Trustees Representative The student representative to the UMS Board of Trustees shall be elected by the Student Senate and shall hold the position for two years. The representative to the Board of Trustees is required to be a General Assembly member. The representative to the Board of Trustees shall attend meetings and report back to the Student Senate at the following General Assembly meeting. The representative to the Board of Trustees shall participate in meetings according to the guide-lines set by the University of Maine System Board of Trustees. ^^ Back To Top Cabinet The President shall chair and preside over Cabinet meetings. The membership shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Officer of Financial Affairs, Officer of Club Affairs, Parliamentarian, Secretary, Club Sports Commissioner, Club Inventory Commissioner, and Leadership Banquet Chair. The Cabinet shall work with the Officer of Financial Affairs to prepare the Student Senate operating account budget for submission, with the Annual Budget, to the Student Senate. The Cabinet may plan and organize Student Senate events and is authorized to spend money from the Student Senate operating account. ^^ Back To Top Club Inventory Committee The Club Inventory Commissioner shall chair the Club Inventory Committee and shall be an ex-officio member. The Club Inventory Committee shall consist of two (2) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to help and assist the Club Inventory Commissioner with monitoring club inventory, and other duties deemed necessary by the Club Sports Commissioner. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Club Rights and Affairs Committee (CRAC) The OCA shall chair the Club Rights and Affairs Committee (CRAC) and be an ex-officio member. The Club Rights and Affairs Committee shall consist of four (4) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at large. Its purpose shall be to review monthly minutes to ensure student clubs/organizations are following the procedures outlined in there club/organization constitution and help enact Student Club Policies protecting the rights of the student body. The committee shall also be responsible for reviewing student club/organization office space, bulletin boards, complaints, and appeals. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Club Sports Committee The Club Sports Commissioner shall chair the Club Sports Committee and shall be an ex-officio member. The Club Sports Committee shall consist of two (2) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to help and assist the Club Sports Commissioner with monitoring of club sports membership, and other duties deemed necessary by the Club Sports Commissioner. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Club Sports Commission The Club Sports Commissioner shall chair the Club Sports Commission and shall be an ex-officio member. The Club Sports Commission shall consist of one (1) member from each club sport, members of the Club Sports Committee, and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to review and create policy and rules for club sports, remain informed on all issues pertaining to club sports, and work with the Club Sports Commissioner. This body shall meet at least once every month, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Constitution Committee The Parliamentarian shall chair the Constitution Committee and be an ex-officio member. The Constitution Committee shall consist of four (4) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to review the constitutions of new and existing clubs/organizations, Student Senates Constitution, By-laws, and policies. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Curriculum and Academic Planning Committee Representative The representative to the Curriculum and Academic Planning Committee shall be elected by the general assembly and will attend the CAP meetings and discuss with issues concerning the current and future curriculum and acadmeic changes that affect the student body. ^^ Back To Top Dr. Roman Scholarship Committee The Student Senate advisor shall Chair the Dr. Roman Award Committee and shall serve as an ex-officio member. The Dr. Roman Award Committee shall consist of two (2) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to consider each applicants leadership essay and award the Dr. Roman Leadership Scholarship to one (1) student with at least three (3) credits remaining to graduate who has demonstrated a passion for leadership and the qualities of a leader in any one of the numerous clubs or organizations that are funded by the Student Activity Fee. The essay shall be based on the qualities of a responsible leader. This body shall meet as often as the Chair deems necessary, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Election Committee The Parliamentarian shall chair the Election Committee, unless personally involved in the election, and shall be an ex-officio member. The Election Committee shall consist of six (6) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at large. Its purpose shall be to hold and monitor all Student Senate elections (both General and Special), approve all candidates, and count ballots. The Election Committee shall provide candidate packets, announce when and where the elections will be held, and announce the official results of the election ^^ Back To Top Executive Board The President shall chair and preside over Executive Board meetings. The Executive Board membership shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Officer of Financial Affairs, Officer of Club Affairs, Parliamentarian, and Secretary. The Executive Board shall plan and coordinate each General Assembly meeting, and shall set the agenda at least thirty (30) hours before each General Assembly meeting. ^^ Back To Top Faculty Senate Representatives The student representatives to the UMF Faculty Senate shall be the President of the Student Senate and a second representative who shall be elected by the Student Senate and will act as the President’s assistant. The second representative to the Faculty Senate is not required to be a Student Senate member. The representatives to the Faculty Senate shall attend Faculty Senate meetings and report back to the Student Senate at the following General Assembly meeting. In the case that a representative is unable to attend a Faculty Senate meeting, the representative may choose to select a proxy to send in his/her place. ^^ Back To Top Financial Affairs Committee (FAC) The OFA shall chair the Financial Affairs Committee (FAC) and be an ex-officio member. The Financial Affairs Committee shall consist of four (4) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to review monthly accountabilities and monetary proposals, and help enact Financial Policies governing the efficient use of the Student Activity Fee. The committee shall also act as the Audit Committee and shall be responsible for auditing any club/organization that they, along with the OFA, deem necessary with the approval of Student Senate. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Fundraising Committee The General Assembly shall elect a Chair for the Fundraising Committee. The Chair shall be an ex-officio member. The Fundraising Committee shall consist of three (3) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to help raise money for the Student Senate and/or Student Senate projects. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Jill Schwab Underclassmen Leadership Award Committee The General Assembly shall select a senior General Assembly member to Chair the Jill Schwab Underclassmen Leadership Award Committee. The Chair shall serve as an ex-officio member. The Jill Schwab Underclassmen Leadership Award Committee shall consist of two (2) senior General Assembly members; two (2) senior Commuter Council members; one (1) senior Campus Residence Council member; one (1) Faculty member; and one (1) university administrator. Its purpose shall be to consider applications and award the Jill Schwab Underclassmen Leadership Award to one (1) full time underclassmen student who has an accumulative GPA of a least 2.0 and who has made significant contributions to the college and/or community. This body shall meet as often as the Chair deems necessary, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Leadership Banquet Committee The Leadership Banquet Chair shall chair the Leadership Banquet Committee and be an ex-officio member. The Leadership Banquet Committee shall consist of three (3) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to plan and host Leadership Banquet events. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Michael Winston Award Committee The OCA shall Chair the Michael Winston Award Committee unless the OCA is a senior, in which case the General Assembly shall select a non-senior General Assembly member to Chair the Committee. The Chair shall serve as an ex-officio member. The Michael Winston Award Committee shall consist of two (2) non-senior General Assembly members; two (2) non-senior Commuter Council members; one (1) non-senior Campus Residence Council member; one (1) Faculty member; and one (1) university administrator. Its purpose shall be to consider applications and award the Michael Winston Award to one (1) full time senior student who has an accumulative GPA of a least 2.0 and who has made significant contributions to the college and/or community. This body shall meet as often as the Chair deems necessary, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top President's Council The President shall chair the President’s Council and shall be an ex-officio member. The President’s Council shall consist of any interested club officers/members and the Center for Student Involvement. Its purpose shall be to act as a forum for clubs/organizations to voice concerns, collaborate with other clubs/organizations, or get information about Student Senate. This body shall meet at the discretion of the President, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Public Relations Committee (PRC) The Secretary shall chair the Public Relations Committee (PRC) and be an ex-officio member. The Public Relations Committee shall consist of three (3) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to perform any public relations work that the Student Senate deems necessary, maintain Student Senate Bulletin Boards, and assist with the Student Senate Newsletter. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Spring Fling Committee The Spring Fling Committee shall elect a chair from within the Committee at the end of each Spring semester to serve for one year. The Chair shall be an ex-officio member. The Spring Fling Committee shall consist of at least five (5) students at large who will attempt to represent all interests of student club/organizations’. The Spring Fling Committee shall have a treasurer who shall be a Student Senate member selected by the General Assembly. Its purpose shall be to plan and host Spring Fling events. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top Student Media Fund Committee The Officer of Financial Affairs shall chair the Student Media Fund Committee and shall serve as an ex-officio member. The Student Media Fund Committee shall consist of one (1) voting treasurer from each club/organization funded by over seventy percent (70%) from the Media Fund, and honorary members from clubs/organizations funded partially by the Media Fund. Its purpose shall be to discuss Media Funded finances, to determine allocations of the Media Fund to individual clubs/organizations, and to review proposals requesting funds from the Media Fund. This body shall meet as often as the Chair deems necessary, or upon the request of a Media Funded club/organization, while school is in session. The Student Senate reserves the right to have final decision on funds within the Media Fund. ^^ Back To Top Students Rights and Affairs Committee (SRAC) The Vice-President shall chair the Student Rights and Affairs Committee (SRAC) and be an ex-officio member. The Student Rights and Affairs Committee shall consist of four (4) General Assembly members and up to two (2) students-at-large. Its purpose shall be to protect the rights of the student body and to review administrative policies and decisions and to challenge those that are deemed violations of student rights, consult and/or prepare students for administrative appeal, develop policies for presentation to the President of the University of Maine at Farmington, and recruit students for University of Maine System committees. The committee shall also act as the Public Safety Committee and shall be responsible for dealing with matters concerning student safety on the UMF Campus. This body shall meet at least once every two (2) weeks, while school is in session. ^^ Back To Top System-Wide Student Government Representatives The system-wide student government representatives shall be elected by the General Assembly and will represent UMF at all system-wide student government meetings. ^^ Back To Top |
